The Portsmouth Maritime Folk Festival presents traditional American and English folk music. Since the autumn of 2000, we have celebrated our local and national heritage of seafaring and maritime trades by taking nautical songs and music to the restaurants, pubs, cafés, churches and streets of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The festival is held on the last full weekend in September (Sept. 23, 24 2017), with free events both Saturday and Sunday.
Our 17th annual festival was a wonderful celebration of folk music, maritime history, and the classic Age of Sail; we look forward to more good times and great music ahead. The 18th annual festival will be held the last full weekend of September (23rd and 24th), 2017.
For our Open Sings, PMFF uses three pub venues that are also full-service restaurants, suitable for all ages. So feel free to bring your singing and non-singing kids along!
The Portsmouth Maritime Folk Festival is funded exclusively by donations from local friends, businesses and companies and from fans of maritime music from all over. For the eighth year in a row, Portsmouth’s Celtic Crossing gift shop generously sponsored our Saturday evening concert – many, many THANKS to Celtic Crossing!!
In addition, we offer a huge THANK YOU to Piscataqua Savings Bank, for their third year sponsoring the Market Square Main Stage!!
