The 2024 Portsmouth Maritime Folk Festival Songwriting Competition is open! This year we will be accepting original entries in two categories:
1. Traditional-style chanties/forebitters
2. Modern/contemporary songs on maritime themes
Songwriters may submit. one song (or two, but just one in each category). Songs will be judged on originality, quality of lyrics, and performance.
Deadline is August 1, 2024. Results will be announced in early September. Winners will perform willing songs at the Festival concert on September 28.
